My wife finally convinced me that I'm selling my tabs too cheap so I'm raising the price of my tabs to $2 each plus postage.
This price increase does not apply to my 1000+ gospel tabs, they will remain at $1 each plus postage, and I will still be offering a free monthly gospel tab.
Thanks to all for your patronage.
Over the past several years I have sent tab to over 1,700 steel guitar players. |

Mike,
I'm glad you agree that they are still a bargain.
I get a lot of orders for just one tab and the postage amounts to more than the cost of the tab. When you deduct the cost of the envelope, printing expense and etc., I'm lucky to get 50 cents out of the deal. |

What a great opportunity to give an economics lesson. For maximizing income, it is impossible to to know the optimum price for goods or services without making adjustments. It is always safe to increase a price when demand is so great that it is hard to fill all of the orders. Raising a price when demand is waning is always a mistake and results in reduced net income. Just as an academic exercise it will be interesting to see how this works out for you. _________________ Curbside Jimmy's New Act

My tabs a $2 each are still a bargain. Most tabs on the forum are being sold in the $5-$10 range. My tabs
are quite thorough. |

I'm in full agreement with Erv. IMHO, his tabs are the best out there!

Agreed, but there is still no certainty that you will net more income. Markets are highly impersonal. The inverse relationship between price and quantity is undeniable. I am sincerely interested in how this works out, not as a musician/customer but as an economist. _________________ Curbside Jimmy's New Act

James,
How many do you want to order?
I don't have any for banjo! |

I have so many of your tabs already, I haven't had time to play through all of them yet.
What I like about your tabs is that with a little bar movement and up and down on the pedals they are very much like Jeff Newman's "Music to Steel by." And, I have heard that "Music to Steel by" was an attempt to teach students how to sound like Jimmy Day. Also, playing only the top two notes gives a completely different feel to the song. These arrangements are highly versatile.
Banjo tabs are so plentiful on the Banjo Hang Out site, I can't imagine how banjo tab writers can make a profit at all. _________________ Curbside Jimmy's New Act

James,
Thanks so much for the compliments.
I guess my tabs are somewhat patterned after Buddy Emmons where he promoted "playing in pockets". I like to write my tabs with a minimum of bar movement up and down the neck. It makes for smoother playing.

I think of them like a coloring book. They can be played to taste. _________________ Curbside Jimmy's New Act

James,
You are correct, Jeff Newman had a course at one time called: "Just Play The Melody". That's how my tabs are written, strictly around the melody.
It's up to you to do the improvising. |

Same here Erv. Just play the melody is what Jeff taught me as well.
It's a good thing we don't do this tabbing for a living.
Keep up the good work.
