Dennis, That is so COOL !!!! I love it ! Can't afford it right now but I have a guitar show coming up in a couple weeks. If I score some sales I may be interested !Do you think the script on the front was added ?

rick: if you mean that the script was added by the user vs the manufacturer, probably not. i worked on a dickerson that was made just prior to magnatone. it "had"(mostly gone now) a palm tree and the name, "dickerson" on it. see the enclosed explaining the gourley aspect.
the dickerson is a great amp using one 6L6. super tone, or, as it would have said, "mastertone." you can see the dickerson in my blog below this link.

This extract from the referenced Vintage Guitar article seems to be a common misperception these days: " lap-style playing is fairly uncommon these days, and most lap steels are sought more as works of art or interesting objects to hung on a wall."
My "works of art", 1934 Rickenbacher Frypan and 1951 BD6 are played nearly every day.
Obviously the folks are Vintage Guitar are not aware of this forum! |
