See there is an LDG on e-bay bid up to $2450
Is there something special about it? Was thinking of selling my LDG when my new Mullen comes in.Maybe I should keep it.

No there's nothing special about that LDG on Ebay; it just looks real nice cause it was the latest model(early 80's) made and probably hadn't even been outside. Someone put the old stock wide pedals on it; but those are not standard that came with that guitar; as I asked for pictures underneath and I got them...and yes it is the lastest superpro parts that were put on in the last days of Shobud. And 2450.00 for a LDG that sounds Dead is alot of money. Remember; Lloyd did not endorse the LDG towards the end of the Sho~bud manufacturing era; as Sho~bud has gone to mold casting parts by then....and sure it looks nice when the parts are chrome plated; but dead as a door knob if you ask me.

From the looks of the feed back on some of the bidders it would appear that a few (new) people not familiar with e-bay got a little carried away in their bidding.
I expect to see a bid withdrawal anytime.

That's about twice what that guitar is worth. I think 1200 to 1500(top dollar) is the going rate. I had a red LDG SP with 4 X 5 for a couple of years and I loved the guitar for what it was. The knee levers will break and the chrome will flake off on the changer finger tops on those guitars. I bought a lacquer Marlen D10 all-pull guitar to replace it. I paid 1500 for the Marlen and there simply is NO COMPARISON bewteen the two...NONE! The Marlen is a hand made masterpiece(in my opinion of course) and the craftsmenship is second to none. |

It looks like a couple of bidders were just playing games. The high bidder has no ebay record. He has zero transactions to his record. I doubt if he will go through with the purchase.

I'm with Ricky on this one, too. The seller is the winner on this deal, if they get the deal done! |

The bidding history will tell the tale. How many people bring the money level up is the important thing. Two idiots fighting it out to stupid money amounts does not make a market, or make LDG's worth any more than 13-15 bills or so.

About an hour after the auction closed on the LDG, there was an auction on a S-10 Sho~Bud. I got it for $735.00. It only had one knee lever on it but a while back I picked up a whole bunch of Sho~Bud parts and I have plenty of stuff to add 3 or 4 more knee levers. Do you think I made a better deal???

Since the auction closed, and I didn't have it bookmarked, I can't access the LDG auction. Does anyone have a link to it to see what the bidding history was?
Yes Erv, you got a better deal if the LDG went for $2500. . Way better.

Well, viewing the bidding history, it seems that two inexperienced buyers did inflate the price from $1500 up to $2450.
Come to think of it, MOST of the bidding was from inexperienced eBayers. And inexperienced steel shoppers as well.
$1200 Maverick anyone? A neat 1978 model, most of the contact paper covering still there, and only missing one changer finger and one pedal broken. Pickup is iffy, but otherwise a really clean machine.

This LDG 'priced out' three days before the bidding ended (winning bid was placed 3 days before the end of auction). The final 15 bids (of 25 total bids) were all placed by newbies. The last bid placed by an experienced Ebay buyer was $850. This particular auction is not indicative of market value/interest in these instruments although LDGs have generally shown interest in excess of their true intrinsic value, as this thread reveals.
Sho-Bud benefits somewhat from the same phenomenon as does Fender. If something says 'Fender' on it no matter how rank the item is, it will sell for $$$$ on Ebay. Nice shade of green, though!
