Universal Audio (UA) Starlight?

Could anyone comment on how this pedal works for steel? I saw that Rich Hinman is using one.

I have a Memory Man TT-1100 but I find it kills some of the sparkle in my tone, even though it's supposedly a split-signal type pedal (i.e. where the dry signal is true bypass and blended with the wet signal, to "preserve tone").
