I recently got an old ZB 210. I am a rank beginner. When tuning it up, I broke a pushrod attached to the RKL lever. Now I am ready to install new one and I need help. There are two strings controlled by the lever, (I think 2 and 6). Is this correct for a basic, learners e9 copedent?

2 and 6 are kinda odd. Student models often lower 2 and 8, and pro models usually lower 2 and 9.

For what it may be worth, Don, I have seen RKL set up this way, lowering 6 from G# to F#; raising 2 from D# to E, and raising 1 from F# to G#. (Part of a recommended copedent by Frenchy Messier.) It is also possible, (assuming your 1st string is not altered) that if your 2nd string is lowered, then it may be from D# to D. Hope this helps....

My S10 3x5 is set up exactly the way Pat describes on RKL

Surely if it's a doubleneck there's no reason to think it would be set up as a student model?

I just remembered that Terry Bethel lowered 2 and 6 together.

The position of the bellcrank should give some indication as to where the original pull rods were.

Is an old ZB hard to change around? The OP could set it up to his own liking at this point.

I have my Sierra set up as 1 & 2 raise, & 6 lower on the RKL. It works, but not the ideal setup.

I say, study a few copedents, ask some questions of the members on here for guidance. It would be beneficial to have the guitar set up somewhat "standard", i.e., Emmons setup to make for ease of learning for a beginner.

Not that it would make learning "easier", per se, but have a standard tuning/copedent does simplify things.
