How long has Carter been in business? or about what year did they start sellin guitars?
Reason I'm askin, their's a lady here in town that has an SD-10 with 4/5. it's gray birdsey I think. she didn't know how old the guitar is,(it was her husband's) and I was just wondering when Carter started building guitars. she wanted $1500 for it, which I thought might be a little high. I could tell the guitar was several yrs old.
it wadn't tuned to E9 so I really couldn't tell about the sound of the guitar.
the A pedal raised the 4th string. what kind of tunin is that?

Terry, get the serial # (stamped in the bottom of the right endplate) and call Ann Fabian at Carter. She can tell you EXACTLY when the guitar was built and the original setup.

Or if you post the serial # on the forum, she will answer the question.

PS: And that's not a bad price if it's not TOO old

Thanks ya'll, does anybody know when they first started buildin Carters? about when?
the lady said her husband done his own setups and tunings, and that he was always changin, or tryin new tunings. since it was an SD-10 I figured it was tuned E9, but I found out right quick it was not E9, and it wadn't C6 either, so I have no idea how he had that thing tuned.

It seems like I heard somewhere that they started building guitars in about 1992.

does the "A" pedal also raise the 5th string? If so, sounds like it might be the Day setup ...?

Thanks Bob.

Don, I don't think it was the Day setup, could have been. if it was, he didn't have the first two strings F# and D# tuned right.
the F# sounded more like a G#. even the open tuning didn't sound anything like E9.
thanks
