Hello everyone. I was wondering if any one can help me with something, I bought something off the forum and agreed to pay the paypal fines. I am still a little new to paypal and am unsure know how to get the fee sent to me instead of the seller. Can any one help?!? (Not sure if this is the right section to post this, but if not I guess it'll be moved)

add the fee to the total amount you want to send. Roughly 3%

Jordan, just add 3% to the total you send the seller. He will receive his asking price, Paypal will deduct the fee before he gets his money.

Well it is being sent to Canada, so isn't there a higher fee or what, how can I find that out? Tryed to do some research but all I got was it could range 2.9 to 3.9 depending on currency.

You could just add the 3% to the total as others have mentioned. Let the seller know that you will kindly cover any paypal fee balance if 3% doesn't cover it all with another paypal payment to him for the balance.

Even if you bought a $5000.00 instrument for example, you won't be very far by doing 3% for starters.

Happy Easter everyone.

It sounds like you have the PayPal part worked out but make sure you find out what import fees are going to be added, if any. I have had trouble pinning Customs down on the numbers. I hope it works out well for you.

Think if you make the payment via the Paypal 'friends & family' link the Paypal commission is charged to you not the payee.-You can avoid these charges yourself by ensuring that the funds you are sending are lodged in your Paypal account before you make the transaction.
Not sure what implication this has on the Paypal 'money back guarantee' though-- but if you are sure of the person you are dealing with and what they are selling it may be an option.

Paypal "Fines" is it? You may be new to paypal but you catch on quick!!

Friends n family eliminates the commission completely it is a free transfer for both parties BUT you give up all the transaction protection. You cant file a claim, retrieve payments, force delivery of goods, or have any other recourse.
