Hi all,
I'm using TablEdit for quite a long time, initially for guitar (6 & 12-string)
Then I learnt that Doug Beaumier and Alex Cattaneo produced very good tabs for Pedal Steel Guitar, and I started to try and do something on this.
My new challenge is to devise an animated fretboard, both for guitar, slide guitar and, if possible, later, on PSG.
I have seen some videos of Kirk Lorange on YouTube with very good tutorials, where, in addition to two real cameras (for right hand and fretboard) an animated fretboard is displayed, and synchronized with the actual picking.
Most of the videos are for acoustic guitar, though there are some on slide guitar, which I think it would be applicable to lap steel too...(?)

Here below a couple of links:
Misty (on a regular acoustic guitar)

Slide Guitar Lick on a Standard Tuning

Does anyone know how to produce such an animated fretboard?
Is there a specific software?
Many Thanks
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

I would say you have just to check the Fingerboard Screen option.

TablEdit will then display an accessory windows that shows the neck of the instrument:

It works also with steel guitar and PSG.

Most of the videos on the TablEdit YouTube channel have been made using the video export facility. Just press F2: the screen will be resized using the 16/9 ratio ; the Quick View displays nicely the title of the tune when the playback is not running. You can capture the screen using CamStudio or any video capture tool.

Best

Hi Matthieu,

I saw the YouTube videos with the TablEdit Fingerboard Screen option, which is fine.
However, I am more inclined to know about the Virtual Fingerboard that Kirk Lorange displays on the links that I posted.

Many Thanks
Daniel

Hi Daniel,
I must admit the display is different.
The slides are nicely shown.
It will be a future challenge to implement the slide display in TablEdit fingerboard window...

Hi Matthieu,
you got it, a real challenge yet worthwhile for an effective fingerboard display of slide instruments.
Many Thanks
