As I usually do, when I was informed of an update from 45.0 to 45.01 (I think are the correct numbers), I accepted. I usually wait a few days if it is a whole new version but for an incremental update or if there is a security alert, I go for it.

After I said yes, restart FF, it shut FF down but after a few minutes it had not restarted. Nothing happened when I tried to start it. So I did a system restore and all's well.
It is again telling me of the available 45.01 update.

Question: is there any known issue with this update? I could just call the problem a fluke and go for it again and everything could be fine or I could say yes, mess things up again and have to do the restore again which would make me look like an idiot.

OK here. Just upgraded from a 44.xx version to the 45.01. No problem.

Sometimes Firefox crashes upon exiting and remains in memory until you kill the process with Task Manager, or log off and back into Windows. This tends to happen after watching Flash videos, or other active content that calls for the plug-ins to activate.

It was not running in Task Manager, first thing that I checked. A reboot might well have taken care of everything. Whatever, 'salright now.

Side question--there used to be a way to choose how often the system set restore points and how many it would save. I'm in Win10 and I can't seem to find a way to configure this now.

There used to be a way to decide whether to install updates, too, prior to Win10. Call me a Microsoft cynic, but it wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft's taken over that sort of thing, as well.

Yeah--my second attempt was uneventful.

re: restore configuration, some research showed that maybe I could mess with it and achieve a regular restore schedule but I'm not interested in flailing around. It never goes well for me. I'll just manually create a restore point whenever I remember to. I'd just like more options than just the last point that was automatically created when the last Windows Update was installed.

Getting off the Microsoft merry-go-round has a nice ring to it, but I worry about software that's important to me that's not ported to Linux. Linux avocates downplay it, but still....

Go to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ where you can see the version you have installed, with the current versions listed below it. There is a link on the page to go to the Adobe Flash Player download page where the newer versions are available for your browser.

While on Adobe.com, go to https://get.adobe.com/air/ and download the latest version of Adobe Air. Install it, then get any available updates for Adobe reader.

The simple way to do this in Firefox is to click on the Menu item Add-Ons. From the Add-ons page you'll see a link to Plug-ins, where you can check for updates to them. Links are provided to the manufacturers' page.
