Hi all! Just wanted to say hello from here in New Jersey. I just got my first pedal steel a few days ago and discovered the forum. Very cool!
Again I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.
Any other NJ steel players out there? Teachers?

Hey Jonathan, nice website!
I'm from Westfield, not much of a player but involved in promoting steel guitar and the history of it.
There is a lot of stuff happening in NJ these days and there are quite a few players out here.
Hey Matt, Cranford is right next door to me, I'm there all the time, great town, my daughter's boyfriend is from there over by the Dairy Queen. I used to work at Easy Rider Ski Center, my late father-in -law was a part owner.
Check out Jim Ryan at Loria Music in Rahway, he may teach or know someone who will. _________________ Regards, Craig

Hey Craig, very familiar with Westfield and Loria Music. I took guitar lessons there in the 70's, Great place. The guy who gave me pedal steel lessons was Gordon Wells, not sure if he still gives lessons or not, but I know he still plays. Gordon was living in New Brunswick at the time and taught out of his apartment. If you can locate him he is a great teacher and player. |

Nice.
I am also from Cranford
I bought my first electric from Loria music... An Ibanez Les Paul Black Beauty (3 pickups).
Took Steel lessons from Gordon also. He was living right by the Cranford/Westfield border at the time.
Small world!
Welcome! |

Hey Pete, did you go to Orange Ave Jr. High? I think I remember a talent show there back in the 70's that had a band playing in it with a steel player, your name sounds familiar. I still remember the show because there were not many if any steel players in Jr. High. I graduated CHS in 1982. You are correct it is a small world. |

I played a Talent show with The Highland Band at CHS in 80 or 81 on Steel, but I didn't have a Steel in Jr. High. I went to Orange Ave though.
I was CHS class of '81. |

Howdy Jonathon-
Greetings from way down south in Mercer county.
Gimme a hollar if I can help you out-just don't ask me to shovel your snow, rake your leaves etc.
Cheers,
