I just remebered the marlen I had and decided to make a statement.What a wonderful instruments.Wish I never had to sell mine.Who ever has it he should enjoy it.

| Yessiree, anytime you get in the mood to play this jewel, just come on over!! We'll stoke up the BBQ and have a great time!! This guitar has "bonded" well with my '71 twin reverb, and the K-130 that lives in the little Marrs cabinet. | Ricky Davis is correct in his description of the Marlen tone as being between an Emmons and a Sho-Bud-the one I owned briefly not long ago turned out to be a pretty fair horn that grew to my liking despite my first impression of it |

Well Gentlemen,
Since you all were talking about the Marlen pedal steel guitar, I felt like I had to throw my two cants in on the subject.
In August of 1978 Bobby Adkins was building guitars for Leonard Stadler in the back room of Leonard's Music store in Reidsville, NC.
Bobby built what Leonard was promoting as his Premier straight pull guitar called a Marlen II. Bobby built it to be carried to Scotty's in 1978. It was Cocobolo and Natural Maple, double neck, dual coil pickups, 8 pedals and 4 knee levers.
Well, When the guitar got back from St. Louis, I was lucky enough to buy it. It is still my favorite guitar and stays in tune. After working my way through college with it, I have only one little bar dent in it. It is a beautiful instrument to look at and to hear. Thanks to Bobby and the late Mr. Leonard for making these fine instruments! |
