Thanks for that Kay, as usual a very polished rendition. The standard guitar parts remind me of the LPs put out in the 1960s under the name of the Waikiki Beach Boys.
Aloha Oe was, and perhaps still is, quintessentially Hawaiian in its evocations. At least two generations grew up to associate the song with swaying palms and departing steamships, but times are changing. Hawaiian music associations were still in the collective subconscious of those who attained their majority in the 1970s, but for those born after 1980, Hawaii is more often associated with glitzy hotels, reggae music, and unattainable surfing competitions. I rarely find anyone who associates the steel guitar with Hawaii unless they have grey hair. Most listeners will tolerate a piece or two, but they invariably ask me, “Do you play any blues?” They can be quite surprised when I say, “No.”

Mike, Joe, David, many thanks for the appreciation and interesting comment, sorry did not acknowledge earlier, it had slipped past the bottom of my screen.

Joe, yes I do play at different places locally a couple of times a week.

Regards,

Kay
