Not positive, but my guess would be Bob Hempker. Killer player. Without a picture, it's hard to tell. But he did say he was heading to New York to do some shows with Loretta.

I tuned in just as it was going off the Tonight Show, but found a video. Sure looked like Bob Hempker playing a GFI.

Still lovely, still great. God Bless Loretta Lynn.

Cool...talk about gig longevity.
I saw Bob play with LL at a taping of The Midnight Special in 1973. He was playing his butt off on a blue mica p/p with a jumping trout decal smack dab in the middle of the front apron.
Funny, the small details that you remember...

You sounded great, Bob, both last night and this morning. I would have mentioned it on Facebook, but you've either unfriend me, or your FB site has somehow disappeared from my computer. In any event, it was great seeing and hearing you play. It made my day.

I had the un-nerving experience of playing while he was in a Club I was playing in Fremont CA in the mid/late 70's. I was playing a club called Hidden Valley Ranch. It was an old 1800's hotel where paople came from all over the country by train to lay in the warm springs. It was a hangout for movie and singing stars of the time, including Charlie Chaplin , who live in a section of Fremont called Niles, where he had a movie production studio? After Loretta played at the Oakland Coliseum one night, Bob, Don Ballenger, and one of Loretta's sons, I believe, came into the club. I had only been playing maybe 6 years at the time. The waitress came to the stage and said that Loretta's band was there. We Said, "yeah, sure". I knew what Bob looked like because I was at the Conway and Loretta show the year before. He was onstage tuning. I asked John who he was. Anyway, our band had a girl singer that knew "When A Tingle Becomes a Chill". Being the smart asses we were, we decided to do the song. I kick off the intro, when I see Bob at the back of the club. I started to shake from fear, and dropped my bar about half way through the intro. He was the first 'Biggie', besides Bobby Black, that I played in front of. But being able to meet him was a high point in my career.
