Here’s my initial C6th interpretation of the composed melody sections of Wes Montgomery’s classic tune Bumpin’ on Sunset. The song is a one-chord bluesy A minor vamp - you just sit on A minor for the whole tune including all the improv sections. It makes a good octave exercise and, if you have an 8-string, you can play double octaves like Wes did.

It’s pretty hard to notate his sublime groove and feel so this is “just one toe in the pool” in that regard. The audio is the computer's lame MIDI output. I recommend listening to Wes! There are lots of versions, but this is the one that stuck in my head over the years:

What string gauges do you use for the 6-string tuning?

ECAGEC

Trying to wrap my head around that E on the 2nd string. Is the high C string lower in pitch than the E?

Are you talking about the ECAGEC tuning?

I think that would be high to low so the 2nd string is C and the 5th string is E
