Apparently has a bullet end on one side and a sharper Stevens-type end on the other. Interesting ....though personally, after using a bullet bar for years I tried several rail bars and was never able to use them. I felt they hampered my playing significantly. Your mileage may differ.

It is interesting... a bit expensive for me though. I have a Shubb-Pearse SP1 that I use on occasion and I like it. The Shubb-Pearse is similar in design to the Asher bar...and 30 bucks cheaper. Embarassed

If I had a lot of expendable cash on hand, I might be tempted to try out the Asher, as I am a sucker for "gadget" stuff, and I would be interested to see what both ends of the bar play like.

I love the design of the Asher bar. I have a stainless Scheerhorn bar. I asked my brother (a very accomplished machinist) to create a bullet-like nose, and relieve the other end just a tad, so if wouldn't submarine the strings when pulling back. Pics later. Thanks for the heads up, Andy.

$15 diff in price. Asher is $50. Shubb's show at $35 on website. Shubb's are now stainless. Asher bar is over 3" in length. It is over 6 oz. it's heavier than all the Shubb bars except the RR2.

I have an SP1 and an SP2. The SP1 seems to be brass as I took off some material.
A little more comfortable. the SP2 is stainless. If the 2 ever gets a pit/scratch from maybe a drop, 1500 then 2000 wet dry paper done right will take it down. Yep its stainless all through.

Since 2012 the SP range has been remade of stainless steel. So no more brass. You must have either bought an old one from a retailer or online store.

Or you just bought it before 2012

Here's what I would be interested in trying: an SP1 cut down to the length of an SP2, and with the indentation on the other end like the SP2 has.

Anyone make one like that?
