I am returning to play lap steel and am thinking of getting a Luna Weissenborn.
I do not know about their quality and I was thinking of adding a harp tailpiece to take the pressure off of the bridge. I found this photo in the archives. Anyone have opinions on a Luna weissenborn and adding a harp tailpiece? Thanks!

Dave, I don't think it's a good idea specifically because the type of bridge on a Weissenborn is designed for maximum string energy transfer from the saddle to the brigde to the top. It is the pressure on the bridge that contributes to the great sound. You'd lose that with a harp tailpiece. It's important to use the the right gauge of strings, but I wouldn't worry about the bridge unless the guitar was poorly made.

Thanks Mike! I may try the Luna and use smaller gauge strings.
