I knew Vernon in his early years at WNCT, Channel 9 in Greenville, N. C. At that time he was playing Jerry Byrd style on a double neck Rickenbacker. I corresponded with him some in his later years when he was posting pedal steel videos here, but I don't know much about his gear.
