I was able to download this album for free today from Google Play (ends today 1/2Cool. I love Ashley, and this album is killer. The reason I posted it here is, Paul is killing it. I recommend this album. His playing on "Has Anybody Ever Told You" brings a tear to my eyes. I love that song, even before this album came out.

Here is a live video of the song with Tommy White. Both are great examples of why they are 2 of my 3 favorite living steel guitar players.

Another one off the album with killer Paul Franklin playing. The album is full of steel guiatar.

Interesting that even though Tommy has some kind of chart in front of him, his glasses are in his shirt pocket..

If I had a chart n front of me, and I actually use an iPad for set lists, I wouldn't have to use my glasses. Maybe that's the case with him.

I think Tommy has the best tone in the business.

Thanks, Richard. I picked up Ashley Monroe's "Like a Rose" CD several weeks ago. I'm quickly becoming a fan...she's got a great country voice and Paul Franklin's steel is all over this one as well. Here's a sample of "Two Weeks Late"

Ashley IS AWESOME! Real country music! Paul's playing is what we expect it to be, polished, perfect.

Her debut CD caught my eye a while ago and, on an impulse, I bought the first country-flavoured album I've purchased in years! Production is good, musicianship is impeccable (as you'd expect with Vince at the helm) and I thought her voice excellent.

A while later I heard her on an NPR broadcast and she wasn't quite as solid, vocally speaking. Of course, it may be that monitoring is less than ideal on 'PHC' but I did wonder at the time whether some trickery had been employed on the record.

Still, it's a very enjoyable album and Paul does wonderful work.

Here's a live video of her doing this song. Paul is in the band backing her. I just love watching Paul play. There are some great shots of him.
