If you put more tension on the string,it gets stiffer.
You can also try putting washers between the two halves of the pedal on the axle.
I think the higher end pedals like Hilton or Telonics can add drag.

thanks Lane I will try some of these I sent an email to Hilton to see if they have an adjustable drag pedal telonics has one for 6 string players who stand don't know if they would work for a steel player sitting.

I have a Sho-Bud (clipon) that I put a washer as Lane suggested, and drilled and tapped the side for a 4-40 setscrew to push on the washer that made it adjustable, works real good so far. Bill

Not a drag screw. It just locks the axle to the bottom half of the pedal.

When I saw it while replacing the pot I thought what the heck does this screw do? Never saw that in the older 120's I had
So I tried making it tight since it was loose and it made the pedal drag stiff..so,I backed it off again...I thought it might just hold the shaft and it probably does just that.

I know the Hilton has a drag adjustment, it's for keeping the pedal in place when you take your foot off, but that will serve. Any pedal that has space between the halves could be shimmed with washers, or even lubricated o-rings, to add some friction. It also might help you to change the pedals position, or the position of your foot on the pedal. I happen to only like low-profile pedals that aren't mounted to the pedalboard, but it's really what you get used to, I guess, where comfort and ergonomics are concerned.
