“Danny Boy†was cut in 1972 and was released on the LP "Charlie McCoy" Monument KZ-31910.
The other great Chalker/McCoy collaboration is “You Are the Sunshine of my Life†cut 1973 from "The Fastest Harp In The South" Monument KZ-32749.
These and all of Charlie's releases are available on CD from Charlie's website:

Sheer brilliance by Mr Chalker. I have loved this since I first heard the track back when it was first released in 1972. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. The only other person I know who played this as intelligently as Curly, is Lloyd Green.
Something about what is created in their heads and then transcends to their hands evokes admiration. _________________ Traveler, Peddler and Extreme life lover. Giving up is not an option. |

I thought I might throw this short video of Curly Chalker and Jimmy Capps "Steel and Guitar Boogie".

That version by Curly and Charlie always brings a tear to my eye and gives me goose bumps at the same time. Just beautiful. I play it closer to his arrangement on the Counterpoint LP and need to learn this one. Interesting the different voicings Curly used in two different recordings. More of his genuine.... _________________ Bill Cunningham

Thanks for posting! That's quite a moment for me when bass, drums and vibes kick in. At times the steel sounds like an orchestra. _________________ Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube. |
