Dan, have you used a GR20 before? I bought one when they first came out, and didn't like it nearly as much as the older GR33. It was harder to program and I don't think is sounded as good as the GR-33. I used the 33's until they came out with the GR55 which I bought, I still have it and love it, although I seldom use it anymore. I have several Godin and Brian Moore guitars with built in RMC synth pickups, and they all work great.

I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro.

Thanks Larry and David, Yea, I have been using the GR20 for a long time. I'm looking for a back up in case this one quits. I'm not interested in the new GR55, but would entertain a used GR33. Do you guys have any experience/opinion on the 33?

I'm getting old and blind and I love the huge display on the GR55, I had to squat down to make sure I was on the right patch on the GR33. I used a cello sound a lot, and the expression pedal could be programmed to manually control the vibrato, which made the sound much more realistic. The cello patch on the GR55 has the vibrato on the patch but it doesn't activate until you hold a note for a few seconds. This works for me, so I haven't tried programming the expression pedal. I used a volume pedal with the GR33, so I had to sit on a stool since I used both feet. I can stand and use the GR55 since I use the expression pedal for volume. These are all nice units and have great sounds.

I bought a really expensive Axon guitar synth system several years ago and used it for a while, but I liked the GR33 better, so I sold the Axon. I also tried a Roland guitar MIDI interface and several different sound modules, and didn't like that as well as the GR33 either, so I sold them all and continued to use the GR33s. I had two for several years, I was playing in a church band and I left one at church and one at home. I used them for cello, violin, string section, sitar, flute, and sax sounds. They worked well for me.

ttt. As an alternate, I'm also interested in buying just the Roland GKC3 or GKC5 13-pin cable. Thanks.
