It was a new one, I think it was done the end of last year, a 50 aniversary thing. one of PBS fund drive things. Jerry Douglas plays on almost everything, Vince Gill, Jackson Brown, Alison Krauss of course Jerry Jeff and others. I even donated to get the dvd with 20 extra minutes of music not seen on tv. |

Ya Joachim, I just googled Jackson and found out stuff I didn't know. He was born in Heidelberg Germany and right out of high school in 66 he joined the Dirt Band and wrote some songs with them. Very interesting. They did "These Days" on the show with Jerry Douglas playing lap steel. |

According to the Wikipedia article about Browne, "The band later recorded a number of Browne's songs, including 'These Days', 'Holding', and 'Shadow Dream Song'." He was only with them from May to August 1966.
"Holding" and another Browne song, "Melissa," were on NGDB's first album. "Shadow Dream Song" and "It's Raining Here in Long Beach" were on their second album, Ricochet, and they recorded "These Days" in 1968, for their third album Rare Junk. I think most or all of those were released before Browne did his first album.
NGDB's first single (1967), "Buy for Me the Rain," peaked at #45 in the U.S. That was written by Steve Noonan and Greg Copeland. After "Mr. Bojangles" (1970), they didn't get into the Top 40 again until 1980, with "An American Dream" and "Make a Little Magic." (As The Dirt Band.) |

Yes William, he mentioned that he was born here when I saw him in Heidelberg in the late seventies. This town and Mannheim was full of American army personnel after the war.
And Doug, Steve Noonan wrote "Buy For Me The Rain". I thought it was JB. _________________ Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube. |
