I hope this is the appropriate section, but I'm going to spend several days in the Phoenix area and I'm curious if anyone has recommends for places to go in the area. Music stores that carry Pedal/nonpedal steels, resonators, six strings, amps, bajo sextos...fun places to check out....good folks to catch play?
Fairly sure I'm going to save for a couple years to get my next steel, right now really set on a Williams U-12, but would love a chance to sit at some more steels, as I don't get access but to a couple up here in Idaho.
Apologies if there is somewhere better to post this on the forum.
Thanks,
Dave |

As of 2 years ago, there is a great acoustic shop called Acoustic World(or something like that) in Tempe which is not far from the show. They have loads of boutique guitars like Collings, etc. They also have mandolins, dobros, banjos, fretless banjos, and classical guitars.
I'm thinking of going over one morning if the hours are compatible.

The shop you are referring to is Acoustic Vibes in Tempe and it is an amazing shop full of high dollar acoustic guitars, mandolins, banjos, etc. Jeff Looker is the owner and my good friend Bernie Lazait is the guitar tech who is excellent. Also in Mesa, there is Milanos which specializes in band and orchestra instruments, but also has guitars, etc...one of Az oldest family owned music stores. Across the street is the Guitar Trader which has quite of few lap steels and occasionally a pedal steel, but not often...Jerry specializes in vintage guitars and has quite a few of them in top dollar range. If you happen to be in Tucson, there is Rainbow Guitars which has a lot of guitars in stock also. Too bad you will miss the SWSGA show, its a great one to attend. Hope this helps. _________________ Zum Encore, Remington D8 non pedal, Hallmark Mosrite clone, Gretsch 6120 DSW, Gretsch G5210T-P90 Electromatic Jet Two 90,1976 Ibanez L5, Eastman archtop, Taylor Dreadnaught, Telonics pedal, Squire Tele, Squire Strat, Fender Tonemaster, Gold Tone 5 string banjo, Little Wonder tenor banjo, 3 Roland cubes 30s and 80, Carvin combo bass amp |
