| I was at rehearsal today, and I noticed something wrong with the tone coming from my amp. I use play through a walker stereo Steel with a Pro0Fex and Sarno Black box. The rich mellow tone I was getting sounded really thin. I looked at the EQ setting on the front of my amp and they were in the same spots, they have always been. I wonder what the problem could be. |

Bad cable is the first suspect.

not that this is the issue,but turn your amp knobs full rotation now and then, it is not uncommon for dirt to be resident in a pot causing havoc which appears out of nowhere. Folks have a tendency to leave knobs in the same location for a very long time.
Cables, connectors etc..are always suspect when things all of a sudden JUST HAPPEN.
Disconnect everything, go straight to the amp. See what happens, always start there.

If you have a volt/ohm meter you might want to measure the guitar's pickup resistance. Higher than ~25K it has probably gone open. There may be capacitive coupling with an open pickup so you still get a small signal. Measure across the jack with nothing plugged in.
Perhaps there's a broken wire between pickup and jack. Some pickups have exposed wire landings that you can probe, some don't. Narrow it down by moving the meter leads to different locations.
Like the other guys say though - more likely a cable - they can go partially open too. |

Hey Guys I got the problem fixed. Turned out to be the pot in the volume pedal, I checked my cables one at a time going straight from the guitar to the amp. And found no distortion and the tone was BACK. Thanks guys for all your input. It was greatly appreciated as always.
