how does a twin sound with a eps15c speaker? I have 2 d120f jbls in it now I do double on steel and tele.im wondering how much it would cut the weight.i like the jbls. could I just have a cab made or would it still be too heavy? thought about letting the twin go but I sure like it. any help would be appreciated. thanks

Mike, I wouldn't get rid of that Twin, you could easily have the weight reduced by splitting the amp into a head and cabinet(s)! If that's not an option for you, get yourself an additional, lighter amp?

This may sound stupid, but pull one of the JBLs out of your twin and then pick it up an see how heavy it feels. That just about exactly what the twin would weigh with two neo 12s.

I wonder if the Twin chassis would fit in the Nashville?

From what I can find on the web they weight 13.5 pounds each. Total for two at 27 pounds.

My choice for a speaker would be the Jensen Toranado (12" Neo) at 4.45 pounds each. Total weight of 8.9 pounds

A savings of roughly 18 pounds.

The amp will not fit in a Nashville cabinet. The Peavey cabinets are very heavy particle board, not a good choice for cabinet weight. The Fender amps were pine with a particle board baffle.

Nothing will sound as good as a pair of D-120s.

That chassis weighs close to 30lbs(give/take) alone...I suspect you'll notice a considerable difference?

I use a Twin head and a Marrs cab with the Eminence EPS 15"
speaker in it...my favorite sound these days...have the Twin put into
a cabinet just for the head and get a single 15" cab and install the Eminence 15
in it...you'll love it!

here's my solution; i'd been using this standel cab with single 15" altec 418b with my deluxe reverb chassis in it. i didn't think the twin would fit, and it almost doesn't. cab and speaker are both lighter than the twin with utahs, and now i can tailor my wattage to the gig by using the deluxe, twin with two tubes pulled, or full twin.

well I just pulled the head from the cab on my twin.the head weighed 27lbs the cab with the jbls weighed 53lbs give or take a few ounces. I will surely split these maybe go with an eps15c. I like rick johnstons cabs but I also like tommy huff cabs with the western look decisions for me are hard. I also wonder how these 15s sound with my tele as I play both any help sure is appreciated.

FWIW: I split my Twin into a head and speaker cabinet. I found I did not like the inconvenience of having to set it up and did not like the additional bulk of the split rig on stage or in the truck. I also missed the tilt back option. I soon went back to the combo.

If you do make the split, I would recommend you keep the reverb pan in the speaker cabinet. Having it with the amp/chassis cabinet makes the head hugely bulky. In other words, use a non-reverb style head cabinet and connect the reverb leads to the reverb pan in the speaker cabinet each time you set up.

Sell your Twin instead of butchering it. That Standell/Deluxe made me sick...

Well I guess we'll have to disagree on the definition of the term "butcher." A '75 Twin Reverb is now 41 years old. Taking the guts out of it as well as the speakers and reverb unit and reinstalling them in a two-piece cabinet seems brutal to me. You could buy a Dual Showman Reverb and achieve your goals.

I'm going on 71, 5'7" on a good day and carry both my '70 TR, or the Session 400 as well as the Emmons D-10 myself. Often I carry the TR and the Emmons together. The day I cannot carry my equipment is the day I'll take up the flute...

You haven't seen a truly butchered Twin, then... there's nothing here that can't be undone... splitting cases by buying new cases is the height of maintaining a classic. Cutting the bottom off and gluing it back onto shorter sides is what usually is done.
