Looking for some gut or nylon in different gauges to be used for upright bass strings.

I was thinking of weedeater string or something like that. Can be synthetic. Any suggestions?

I would need 4 differnt sizes for 4 different strings.

I think E.O. Mari Co. makes a set of nylon bass strings at a reasonable price, brand name "Supernil" or something like that. I'll check a catalog at my store Monday and let you know... Larry J.

Here is a great site: Http://www.rockabillybass.com
Check the forum, strings.
Clef guts are nice, and the Hillbilly Slap weedwhacker strings are very popular at only $20.00 a set.

My friend Ed Clark has been using weedeater strings for years. He gets a fabulous tone. He tunes his bass with a C note on top.

Here are the gages he uses.

C - .060
G - .080
A - .095
E - .105

These things last forever and are very cheap compared to commercial strings of any type.
