I have an original Lawrence 605 and an original Lawrence 705 that I plan to use on a D10 mica covered steel. Is that a reasonable? Should I use the 705 on the E9 neck and the 605 on C6, or would it be better to switch them? I know...tone...subjective...Experiences? Recommendations? Opinions?

I'm not familiar with the BL605, but I have BL705's in my Mullen and I love them. Fantastic pickups. Were it my guitar that I was contemplating what you're asking, I'd be inclined to favor the 705 on E9th. Again, I'm unfamiliar with the 605, so that's the main reason I favor the 705 as they've worked so well in all the guitars I've used them in. Hopefully, someone familiar with both will chime in with some input.

Thanks, Jim. I've used 705s on E9 on a couple of steels. I like them a lot. The 605 has lower resistance, around 16K vs. 20K of the 705. The 705 is a little warmer. I'm leaning toward using the 605 on C6. I expect that I can make EQ adjustments to a degree. I've never played C6 though, so I'm wondering.

I don't have to use the 605. I just thought it might be interesting to try. I can use another 705 or a different pickup on the C6 neck if anyone has suggestions.

I did exactly that on a Fessenden guitar and it sounded great. The difference in output was a non issue. You'll end up raising and lowering the pickup the suite your ear once they're installed and they'll probably balance out nicely.

I also have an original 705 on my E9th and a 605 on my C6th and I think it sounds great. I have a MSA D10 Classic
