Thanks for your Help....
After some more research I am going with an extended E9th which is what I really was looking for when I had it built,
but could not find the info I was looking for at the time.
I just had a new 12 string E9/B6 built for me.
I have 4 pedals and 4 knee levers on my steel.
I don't like the Vertical knee with my short legs so I left it off.
What I am looking for mostly is what is the most useful setup for my 4 pedal.
My knee levers are what I used mostly on my E9th steel so I'm Ok with them.
Thanks in advance.

Don,
You have the standard ABC pedals for the E9 and one extra pedal? Don't see how you can get most of the B6 in there with one pedal? |

I'm setting it up as an extended E9th.
I can work most of the little I need of the B6th by lowering my E's.
If you look at the tuning from the bottom up it is basically the same as the C6th down 1/2 step to the 4th string.
I think I have found something that works for me.
I'm raising my 4 string E to F# and lowering my 8th string E to D. These are two changes so far that I like. _________________ Private one on one lessons available

I like having those changes in an extended tuning. Not sure if (or how) I could make them work in combination with all else if I put them on a pedal though. |

Hi Georg
The lowered 8th string is a nice change.
On the 4th string full raise I use it as part of a lick.
I may find other uses later as I've only had the steel home one week and still finding my way around it.
One thing I do not like is the low B string and I may put something else there like maybe a C# which I can lower to a B if needed. _________________ Private one on one lessons available

With only one extra pedal, I'd find an extra E9th change for it (I put the 1st and 2nd string raise on a zero pedal, myself, only raising 1 a half step on the lever) _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

I am not a 12 string player but I have talked and listenened to others. If you have a standard E9 you should consider a low E on 11 or 12. Look at Tom Brumleys set up on 11 strings and about 4 pedals. You can get all kinds of things with the standard 4 knees and the addition of just that low E on bottom.
JMO I am no expert on this (or anything else).

That is my P4 on ext E9. I use the right foot if I really wanna sound like B+D pedals.
For me
P1 = raise 6 G# to ++A#
P2 = both B to ++C#
P3 = all 3 G# to +A
P4 = see above |

Thanks guys.
Fred, I do have a low E on my 11th string.
Ernie, I'll check out what you have here.

There have been many times I wish I had a 4th string E to F# on a lever to use in conjunction with the AB. You can use the first string, or move your left foot fast to C, but there is something appealing about the 5th to 6th degree bend, like in open position. I noticed the guy with Buck Owens had it(Christiansen?). John |

This is the tuning I have settled on at this time.
John, I may in the future add the E to F# on the 4th string.
I have it on my other 10 string steels on RKR.
I don't like 1/2 stops, so I left them off this steel.
