What do I have to do to make this Amp sound good on my Steel Guitar. That's #1 and #2 is how can I use my Head Phones on this amp. My Wife is going crazt with me playing loud as I have hearing aids and I guess i play it loud because I have a hearing problem.I'm waiting to have some one help me out. Next Question is I have a Zum S 10 with 3& 4 and I think it could be the Pick up that is not letting me get the sound I'm looking for. Help me Please.

It is a very bright amp. I would imagine the Zum is bright too.. so it will take a bit of work. It sounds better on darker toned wood neck steels... pretty good with an old MSA. Pretty zingy with aluminum neck guitars.

Bright switch off. Out position.
Bass about 4 oc
Mids about 9 oc
Treble about 9 oc
Resonance On
Presence about 11 oc
Powersim at 2 oc

That's just a starting point.

If you need a fuller sound you need to turn the mids and treble off... then turn the volume up until you get the bass ooomph you want. ...and then bring up the mids and then treble a little bit.

I've got one of those amps out in the garage.

It works fine but is not particularly steel friendly from what I can coax out of it, certainly not like one of the original 1980's model Bandits.

The Stage One pickup is not the problem.

I have all the knobs turned off and the best i can get it to sound a little better is to turn the Low all the way up to 9 with every thing else shut off.It is close to what i want but not perfect. Also I need to be able to use my head phones so I do not blast my wife out of the house as i have a hearing problem. .

The Bandit 112 is designed for six string electric guitar and not necessarily steel guitar voicings. Yes, you can play steel through any amp, but the results are not necessarily going to be pleasing.

First of all, the MID/Notch equalization of a Nashville amp is more suitable for steel, and the speaker in your Bandit amp is "voiced" for six string electric(the speaker has a high mid bump in its response for distortion voicings). This is just a couple of things that a set a steel amp apart from an guitar amp. A Nashville 112 would be much more suitable.

... And the Nashville 112 has a headphone jack for your wife's benefit.

All the best.

Sam .. make sure the bright button is out...eg off and the resonance button in...on ..

If you use George l cables I can't imagine how bright it would be. Also if you have a buffer and pedals. .. they will add brightness.

That said. ...I have never had a guitar however bright that I didn't need to bring in some highs and mids... even if slight.

Another setting that sometimes works is with bass full and treble off. .. use mid knob to bring in some clarity and use presence rather than treble for brightness.

Yes I know the Nashville 112 is a Steel Amp.I'm kicking my butt for selling it I had the Brr Brown Kit in it and it was a great Amp. I can not afford one right now I have to wait until around July before I can get one so I'm stuck with this big heavy amp.I'm 79 years old with apace maker and defib in me and they just put a mess in my whole stomach as I kept getting Hernia's I can not lug this Amp around.

Sam..When I sold it to you,I honestly did not realize that the Bandit would create so many problems. Since you had previously owned a Bandit 112, assumed that you were familiar with the size and weight of the amp. Also, before shipping the unit, was able to set it up for a rather pleasing tone (very similar to my Nashville 112). However,if you are that dissatisfied, kindly ship the amp back to me and I will gladly refund your money..Thanks.

I have an old Peavey Bandit, original or second year I guess, the 50w one. Maybe everybody's ears are different, but I use this amp as my rehearsal/small gig amp all the time, and for me it's got a great tone. I use a Twin most of the time, but this Bandit is a really nice light weight option. Tone is basically straight up on everything, and it has plenty of volume, the pull-bright is disabled.

EDITED, just saw what Doug said:

Exactly... Never tried a Sheffield version.. I paid 50 bux for this amp on Craigslist, and about 75 bux for Tolex and Grill.. LOL.

Lots of stage volume here, and the Bandit was fine..

David, that is very kind of you. It sounds something that Doug Earnest would do. He is the nicest in my opinion.
