I am going to order a Lacquer guitar and was wondering whether to get a wooden neck or
aluminum.I like a clean clear sound but don't
want it harsh.I still like to have a lot of
bottom but not muddy.Would welcome your
opinion as to what to consider.

Thanks,
Rodney

Go with wood. I don't know many aluminum-neck steels that have a lot of bottom end.

Wood not (an enharmonic pun) the pick up have more to do with this than the neck?

The neck has very little to nothing to do with the question you are posing. But the body and changer mounting do.
Oh never mind, just paint it black and save bOb space on his hard drive.

I went from '75 Emmons w/Alum, to '74 w/wood. The difference was slight but I think the wood offers warmth, more acoustic high end, and slightly deeper bass. (I believe the pickups were identicle.) I would go with wood again, if offered the choice. There is no doubt that wooden, inlaid necks look sweeter.

I know that there are many things that affect the tone and overall sound of a
steel guitar.I was just wondering how much
difference it made if you were using wooden
or aluminum necks on a lacquer guitar.I have
been playing a mica guitar with aluminum
necks.
