I remember a few years back there was an acoustic guit. amp. for pedal steel guitar sold and promoted by Carter Steel Guitar I think but I'm not sure.I'd like to know the brand and model of this amp.
Thanks.

The thing wrong with acoustic Guitar amps and key boards amps is, they have a tweeter that would probably make the steel sound too harsh. The good news about these amps is (The Tweeter) They make nice little PA's. RP _________________ Emmons SKH Le Grande, '73 Fender P/J bass, Tick tack bass, Regal high strung, USA Nashville 112. |

John, The only amp that I recall being sold by the Carter company was the Peavey Nashville 112. I bought one from them about 10 years ago, and it was delivered to friends in California who brought it to me in Canada when they came up for a visit. [I think the price included free shipping within the US.] |

I have a Fishman Loudbox Mini that does a nice job on steel. Designed for acoutic guitar, but works nice with 7 string jazz guitar and steel. It does not sound like a Twin Reverb, but has excellent headroom with a direct type sound. Small, light, cheap, clean and decent reverb. Very usable for rehearsals or small gigs if you like that sound. |

For à pedal steel guitar you just need a good parametric equaliser (+/-20 db), a good amplifier with a good 12" or 15" large band speaker. Mike Brown made the N112 for that. |

I used my Fishman Loudbox for a set at a gig to see what it sounded like. Switched back to my Nashville 400 at break time. Didn't sound too good. Mine is the tri-amped version. It was loud, but the tone for PSG just wasn't there. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . I have a Carvin acoustic amp with a tweeter and a 12" speaker. It has a feature where you can switch off the tweeter, pretty cool. _________________ Mark |

I played a couple of tours through a Trace Elliot acoustic amp, two channels, one for steel and one for dobro. Worked pretty well, I think. Sophisticated eq and a good reverb. _________________ Olli Haavisto
