To any an all that knows: My Emmons PP came from the factory lowering the 6th string from G# to F# on the RKL. It also raises the 1st. When I bought it the told me it was the standard Emmons set up. Thats the way I learned to play it. I like it because you can use it with the E lower (LKR) and get a major chord on string groups 6 8 & 10 or 8 7 & 5. I am wondering if I could add the third string to this lever with out any problems. That way I could get another chord voicing on 3 4 & 5. Thanks--------Eddie Malray |

I really don't know the limits of the PP (even though I've got one) but I can tell you that on my all-pull guitar, that is a real long lever throw to lower the 3rd string a whole step (I lower it a whole step in combination with A&B pedals to get a G in order to do Mooney type dom7 descending rakes). |

IMHO, It doesn't sound too practical, because; you'll be losing your A7 and Am7 voicing obtained by Pedals #1 & #2 + RKL = 1>G–2>D#–3>A–4>E–5>C#–6>G±

The following are IMO, the "cons" doing that:
1. Your changer may not lower that string that far.
2. Slackening that thin string a whole tone, would make it sound even thinner than it tends to now.
3. With the raising of that string, I believe it would increase premature breakage on the string. Not to mention excessive hysterisis (strings raised, then lowered, then releasing coming back sharp)

Better to do the third string stuff with an additional pedal or KL. That way if you find it undesirable you can always change the KL or pedal to play with another string. |
