Anyone else playing an old Sho~Bud Pro II
8&2 ? I realize it may be limited by todays standards with only Two knee levers
but you can still get an awful lot of music out of it.As I understand it, Sho~Bud made these guitars with 8&4 at the same time as the 8&2..anyone know the reason behind makeing just the 8&2? Thanks..

Yes; The professionals came standard with 8&2 and were rack and barrel single raise/single lower changer...>Then the Pro II came out and the only difference from "The Professional" was crossbars with pullers..but still had barrels behind pullers as opposed to Racks. Then the Pro~II with the Double raise/Single lower came out with nylon tuners and rods are now affixed to the brass rollers on the pullers; then they started coming with 8&4...Right around then....>who knows why they did this or why they did that..ha...Shobud had something different up their sleeve about every 6 months...ah..ha.
I prefer the pullers with Barrels single raise/single lower infinate changer....as that to me was the smooooooothes action of all shobuds I've played....

I am still playing my old Professional with 8 & 2..Bought it new in 1972 and it has been dragged all over the country and has sun faded from doing a lot of outdoor shows, but I still like it as good as any steel I have played..I can't find any with the same sound. I also play a Super Pro and a new GFI on some of the shows and they are great guitars, but the old Pro still feels and fits me the best..Vance
