Saturday night I attended a wonderful performance in Portland featuring Deke Dickerson and local steel players Jeremy Wakefield, and Russ Blake. They were all playing vintage instruments including two triple neck Bigsby's, a custom-built Bigsby style guitar, and a 1951 mandolin just to mention a few. There were eight players total in the band, all of them outstanding performers. Here are a few photos from the show.

Scotty who said he started playing around 1939

Deke Dickerson with Dale Granstrom who designed and built this custom guitar made of Myrtlewood here in Oregon. This guitar contains Bigsby pickups, and hardware and is truly a work of art!! Dale is also Oregon's senior active steel player and a great musician.

Gosh, that must have been quite a show, Bob! Wish I could have been there with you.

Here are a few photos that I believe you probably posted elsewhere on the Forum of both Dale and Russ at a few of our local steel jams over the years.

Russ Blake at a couple of his vintage steels and a newer one

Is that Fender a 10/8 stringer? Or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

Wow, what a show. I'm left wondering though, how Dale totes those D-12's around...

When I grow up, I want to play just like Dale.
