Hello Dom,
Another very good rendition of an old tune. Please could you let me know what string gauges you use for the 12 string tuning?
Regards, Keith. |

The string gauges I use are generally larger than recommended. The fatter wound strings have a very wide range of pitches that they can provide. The main advantage for me in using heavier gauges is a more solid feeling under the bar.
Tuning top to bottom:
F# .015p
D .017p
A# .022p
G .028w
E .016p
C# .020p
A .026w
F# .030w
E .036w
C# .042w
B .045w
G# .052w
E .056w
I use Daddario Chromes flats for the wound strings, and any old plain strings I can find. I am a string junkie, and I have hundreds of strings on hand. Sometimes I vary the actually gauges I use, according to what I have lying around. _________________ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYG9cvwCPKuXpGofziPNieA/feed?activity_view=3 |

Thanks so much for the information Dom. My next project will be a 12 string early next year. I'll also try your tuning as you get a great sound from it.
Regards,
Keith. |

That was my 13 string tuning... I forgot to say that the first four strings are "re-entrant" and my 12 string tuning just omits the low E. Funny thing though on "HEY GOOD LOOKIN" I didn't use any of my fancy chords, everything I played could be done on the standard A6th six string. (Hi to Low: E,C#,A,F#,E,C#) _________________ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYG9cvwCPKuXpGofziPNieA/feed?activity_view=3 |
