Tried to turn on my Nashville 400 today and it won't power up. Nothing at all. I've tried searching the Forum for this specific problem and tried what's geen suggested. I've un-plugged and re connected everything, checked the glass fuses as suggested in a couple of posts.
Any trouble shooting suggestions? |

If the internal fuses are good, the next step is to verify the AC power cord is OK. You'll need an ohmmeter to check that.
If the AC power cord checks OK, it off to a qualified tech. |

When you say you disconnected and reconnected everything, did you also do it to the thermal overload on one of the power transistors? It may not be the problem, but my NV400 had a problem where it would keep turning itself on and off, consistently every second or so. I contacted Ken Fox who told me some things to try. I unplugged and re-plugged everything, including the spade connectors used. It started working right after that, and it's been at least 2 years, and no hiccups. There is also a triac on the on/off circuit that he said could cause problems. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . historically speaking , it's very strange and odd that an amp worked yesterday and won't POWER UP today, not powering up at all implies NO AC power to the Power Supply.
If you have the ability, open it up, be sure the POWER CORD IS NOT plugged in and disconnected.
Unplug all the the connectors ONE AT A TIME, use some electronics spray cleaner, plug em back in, unplug and plug them in a few times each to "burnish" the metal connectors.
The power supply and transformer connectors are most suspect. If you are not comfortable, bring it to a tech.
If you lived near me I would do it for you. The older PV amps are great but they are prone to oddities with connectors over time and age.
good luck ! _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,

Try patching a cable between the SEND and RETURN or IN and OUT points, then another cable between the PRE AMP OUT and the POWER AMP IN jacks on the rear panel. Those jacks could have corroded or have a bit of rust on them. Our factory techs use Peavey Funk Out(#00456600) which is available from your Peavey dealer or direct from the factory parts department. Call toll free at 1-877-732-8391, ext. 8106.

Note, now that I think about it, using the patching procedure that I described won't repair an amp that has thermal problems. Just a thought. |
