I've been ATTEMPTING to learn to play PSG for about a year now. Every time I learn something new, it makes me realize exactly how little I actually know about this beautiful instrument.
My question is this, I was attempting to learn a kick off to a song tonight, I was doing ok, but then I hit a snag. The intro walks from the 4 back to the 1. I'm in C on the third fret with AB pedals down and it walks back to G on the 10th fret with AB pedals down. It does it in 5 beats. Could somebody help me with a few different walk downs or ups????
Thank you very much,
Ray |

Ray,
A simple way is to lift your A & B pedals off on the third fret to go to an open G in that position. Of course there are other ways too, but you haven't said what song you were playing and if an open G in that position would have been an acceptable comprimise!

Hi Ray
Theres about 100 different ways to go back to the 1 chord.
Im not at my steel right now , but thinking in my head one way might be to pick strings 5 & 8 pedals down at the 3rd fret,,slide up to 4th fret same strings with E string (8th) raised, slide to 6th fret same thing,,slide to 8th fret no pedals,,slide to 10th fret and squeeze A & B pedals down for the 1 chord.
Make each change on the beat 1-2-3-4-1

Ray,,after sitting down at my steel,,the above sounds kinda funky so try this one also,,,,,,,,,,
3r fret A & B pedals down, pick strings 345,
release A & B pedals and lower 4th string & slide back to 1st fret all in one motion.
Back to 3rd fret & pick strings 345 with no pedals & 4th string lowered.
And last pick strings 456 with no pedals or knee lever for the 1 chord (G) |

Thanks guys for all your help. I'll give that a try. The PSG is a very humbling instrument to try a play. I wish I would have tried learning at an earlier age. I absolutely love this instrument.
Take care,

Humbling, intimidating, mesmerizing, enchanting, frustrating, beautiful, painful, wonderful, annoying, preoccupying, heartgrabbing, tear producing, time consuming, and fair.
It gives back what you put into it.
Gee, sounds like my daughter... |
