I'm in the market for a relatively inexpensive cabinet to house a 12" speaker. Anyone here who has any experience with Greg's Pro Audio in Riverside, CA? Would be interested in learning your impressions of Greg's cabs, as well as any other empty cabs on the lower end of the price spectrum.

Hi Jack,

I ordered one of Greg's 12" cabinets after reading Travis Toy's post stating that he was ordering them to bundle with his TT-12 speaker package.

I ordered online and received the cabinet about 3 weeks later. i would recommend calling them directly to review your order to make sure they get it right. Cabinets are well made and look good.

I've been using a 1-12" GPA open back cab for a couple of years and I'm happy with it. His cabinets are not fancy but they are lite, solid, well built and a good value, IMO. The grille is metal not cloth. The speaker loads from the front.

I picked it up in person at his shop in Riverside. I have a TT-12 and Ganz SA amp mounted inside.

They have been, and continue to be my top recommendation for inexpensive, yet good sounding, and good dimensioned cabinets. Just make sure you specify open or closed back when ordering. I made the mistake of getting 2 closed back cabs one time when I forgot to specify open back. I took them over to Mike Scaggs’ house and we cut the backs out. Haha. It’s good to have friends with lots of tools.

I have two of the open back cabinets and really like them. They sound great, are built like tanks, and you just can't beat the price. Great value!

Thanks everyone for your replies. Guess I'm not the Lone Ranger, as my intended purpose for a new cabinet is to house the new Double-T 12 I recently purchased. A special thanks to Travis for his reassurance that the GPA cab is good choice. I placed my order for a "Fire Hot Red" textured Tolex with a slanted front and open back.
