I use a MicroPro (older version) through a 12" or 15" JBL. I love it. The new version does exactly what the old one does, Quilter uses all sorts of marketing mumbo jumbo, but they are basically the same amps. It has plenty of power and great eq. I like it a lot more than the bigger and more expensive Steelaire.

I use mine all the time for steel.I still like the Steelaire better. Also the Mach 2 8 has some verygood steel sounds also. The 8 inch speaker does some different stuff.Pat could tell you what and why.I,m a dealer, give me a call if you need anymore info or a good deal. Thanks Jerry. jerrysguitarsnmor 772 215 7070 Jerrys'Guitars N Mor on facebook has a video of me playing with the 8 inch speaker outside with no mics on the amp

if any of you Micropro owners have experience with the N112, how does it compare in terms of power and handling of C6 range(through a 12"or...)?

I've been using a Mach 2 HD 12" combo for all my pedal steel gigs this summer. I've paired it with a keyless Excel Superb S-10 for a lighweight rig, weighing in at a total of 55 lbs (amp + steel in case!)

I shot a short video trying it out earlier this summer using my phone so it isn't the best quality. Hadn't had the time to explore all the possibilities, but it's real easy to dial in a nice tone.

Really nice tone Niklas. Great playing too! What particular amp settings were you using or which selector settings working best for the steel for you?

Thanks.

Can't recall exactly what settings I used in that video, but since then I've come to like using the FullQ voicing and some of the scoop boost. Bass and treble kept somewhere around noon, and mids around 10-11 o'clock. Hi cut at noon or slightly above.

The Excel is quite a bright steel, so this may sound a bit muddy for some, but there's plenty of highs in the amp and speaker to dial in for those with darker sounding steels or pickups.

Niklas - great tone and playing! Do you find the Mach 2 12" is loud enough for most (all?) gigs you've done this summer? I like the Steelaire, but I need to have an amp that I can play Tele with, too.

I have mostly done gigs where the amps were miked, but I would think there's plenty of clean headroom and volume left to play unmiked with a full band. I have yet to do that in order to be able to verify it, though.

What's the difference between the HD version and the Standard version, other than weight?

The HD version uses a neo element, a full range 300w speaker. I thought it was a bit harsh in the upper mids first, but it has opened up nicely after having been broken in for a while.

Since it's full range, it would sound nice for acoustic instruments as well. I have yet to try that.

Niklas Thanks for the reply. The Neo element speaker looks like it was designed for bass from what I've found on the web . Which is why it does so well with steel I think. Do you think the Classic Lead 80 speaker in the standard version would have a similar tone as the Neo element?

I've since had great results with a tele using the same amp and speaker, so I guess they can be dialed in to sound kind of similar. The lead 80 may have less bottom and top end.

I think I only used the amp's reverb in that clip. It might have been a zoom ms70cdr for some delay, but I think I plugged straight in. I'm about to record some new clips in my studio with the amp properly miked up. I'll post them here when I'm done.

Niklas, thanks for taking the time to do this it would be very helpful. There isn't a quilter dealer close to me so I can try a micropro. After a back surgery I'm looking to downsizing my amps and steel. Even the little Nashville isn't safe for me to carry around. I've thought about having it split into a head and speaker to help with the weight. But given the tone you are getting the micropro may be the answer.
