Anyone familiar with the 1952 National "Harpmaster?"

Anyone care to offer an opinion on what would be a fair price? The dealer (he's reputable) is asking $795.00.

If that was what I would pay in the UK I would buy it tomorrow. Not too sure about in the USA.

It's a re-branded National Grand Console. At first I thought the letters were a later addition, but I think those unusual bridge/pickup assemblies were used on the English Electronics version; they usually called their steels Tonemasters, so it's possible this is one of theirs.

Looks in super shape from pics. From what I have seen advertised in the states, the price seems good, if it plays good. Especially with the legs. Beautiful guitar Joe

That's a nice looking guitar. The only other one I've seen was listed recently on eBay ----> http://www.ebay.ca/itm/National-Harpmaster-Double-Neck-8-String-Steel-Guitar-In-Hardshell-Case-/231774178370 It has Stringtone tuning changers. It was listed at $700, but didn't sell for that. The seller accepted the best offer.

At first I thought National may have branded the "Harpmaster" for Export. Kind of like the Rickenbacher Premiervox. But that's a long shot. Surprised

Norm English was a music store owner, teacher, and musician from Michigan. I think he had some instruments made by others for the English Electronics brand.

Pretty guitar; kind of a Magnatone Lyric vibe.

The other Norm English guitars I've seen had the "English Electronics" logo on the headstock. Built by Valco, as this National probably was. I do agree that it has kind of a Magnatone vibe.
