Do ya'll think gets the best tone? I'm using .025. I used to use .015 and .018
but I'm thinkin they are too thin.

I use the .025 - they are a bit on the rigid side, but I find that the note is much fuller than with the thinner guage picks. Lloyd uses a heavy guage pick and there aint too much wrong with his tone.

I always used the old original Nationals until about four years ago, when I tried the Showcase 1941. I've been using them ever since. My second choice would be the Kyser picks. I think both of these are probably about .025 thickness. The Kyser seems to have a slightly brighter sound than the Showcase, but I prefer the Showcase over anything I've tried. |

I think that heavier picks are better, but perhaps the more important issue is actually the angle that the picks hit the strings. You can get good or bad tones out of heavy OR light picks, depending on the angle of the pick.

0.025 for me.
I like to play Dobro and steel. So I settled on 0.025 for both. |

I've tried them all, and the best picks for my fingers and my tone are the Jeff Newman "JF Diamonds."
They're quite reasonably priced... $3 a pair... and they're heavy gauge, like .025's. Jeff will have some at the TX Jambo.

Michael,
I play with the Sammy Shelor picks since two years now and for me, they are fantastic. I have sets with the wider bands and the narrow bands, both are great. By the way, I have most of the other brands (new/old Nationals, Newman, showcase, Dunlop, ProPik,Keyser) in a case.
