Hi all. I've dabbled in pedal steel a few times, always with used guitars that either didn't sound like I wanted, or required a good bit of repair or tinkering with to keep working.

I've decided I might want to give it another try, but this time with a new Stage One guitar.

Would any of you happen to be within easy driving distance of Meridian, Mississippi and be willing to let me come over on a weekend, or other day, and sit down and play/hear one before I take the plunge?

I would be ok with driving up to 200 miles or so I believe, and would greatly appreciate it.

Of course, if anyone has a Stage One in like new condition for sale, or that you would be interested in taking a Remington Steel 8 String console in partial trade for, contact me as well, although my plan at the moment is to save a bit more money and buy a new one.

I'm an adult and not a nut case or anything, I promise.

Please contact me via PM if possible.

Don't worry about trying one, just buy it. They are as good as you'll get. I had one for 3 yrs, just got rid of it, tried for a Mullen. Wished I'd have kept it. Not that the Mullen is bad, but it was a sweet guitar. Not what your'd think from a student model. You'll be impressed, Doug does a fine job on them.

Hi Jim,

Welcome to the madness... "it's a nice little hobby."

We get lots of respectful disagreement on this forum, but opinions on the StageOne are consistently positive.

It doesn't lend itself to setup changes. Who cares. Is it enough guitar? Everything you hear from Lloyd Green was done with 3 pedals and 4 knees.

Easy to sell it later, and you'll have your first "I wish I had kept that one" story.Rolling Eyes

The Stage One sounds as classic or modern as the player's ability dictates. The pedals and levers area very easy to play and the steel stays in tune.

Jim, if you buy a Stage One it will sell in a day or two for close to, or at the price you paid for it should you decide it is not for you. If you get lucky enough to play one for an hour or two nearby, this will only tease the beast. Better get saving. Laughing
