Ray Montee has posed this question under Steel Players:
http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=2436591#2436591
"My old amp's instrument jack went dead on me some time back following a loud pop.

It has only two jacks: instrument and/or microphone..

Should one use the mike jack for a guitar or is this a technical No-No?"

I thought it was interesting enough to ask here, because of the "and/or microphone."

Try it!
Back in the day, the "normal" channel input was often used for a mic input, in my area. The old mic's had a high impedance coupling, (I think I still have a couple of Shure mics with the threaded connector.)
