I called the new iowner of Lawrence Pickups several
Months ago and asked if I clould get 2-12 string narrow
Pickups....I was told absolutely...
A month later, no pickups. 2 months later a follow up
Phone call. The pickups had been sent to a previous address, AND it was 4 wide mount 705 10'strings, and my CC was charged twice what I was told..
He actually got the landlord on the phone and located the 4 pickups and promised to send the TWO 10 string narrow mounts that I now needed... 2 months now and THOSE haven't showed up either.... Now they don't answer the phone... No money, no product, no
Answer... 425 dollars vanished...anyone else have this issue? _________________ ARTIST RELATIONS: MSA GUITARS

Is this the Bill Lawrence pickup company that is now operated be his wife Becky?
If so, I am glad I saw this posting...I was considering ordering a XR-16, 12 string from their website.
Hope this situation works out for you...it's unfortunate when this happens with a long, trusted, vendor. |

I don't think the REAL Bill & Becky Lawrence company
http://wildepickups.com/Steel_Guitar_Pickups.html
makes a 705. I believe the 705 is made by the company that Bill lost his name to--Bill Lawrence USA, owned by a former partner, Jzchak Wajcman. It is a twisted, ugly story.
Bottom line--there are two unrelated companies out there.
I have no idea how Becky is doing re: timely order fulfillment on stuff like the XR-16. |

Please don't confuse the two companies. The new 705 is not built by or sold by Bill Lawrence's company which is now run by his wife and daughter. You can deal with Becky with complete confidence.

Quentin,
Becky, the wife of Bill Lawrence, does not make the 705.
The other Lawrence company (the one with delivery problems) makes the 705. |

Becky at Lawrence/wilde is the best. No problems if you deal with the real deal.[/b] _________________ Steel Guitar Services:

To simply put it, 710's made by Wilde/Bill Lawrence's wife. 705's made by Izzy "not sure if that's spelled correctly" from what I understand, he used to work for Bill and bought out the original company including Bill's name. The pickups that this Izzy makes are supposedly made with the same machines or equipment and materials that was used to make the original 705's back years ago. The only difference in the 705's now is just the black covering as opposed to the chrome covering. The new 705's are supposed to be made by the same specs and same machines as the originals other than the black as opposed to the chrome. I haven't had much experience with the older 705's but to me I think the newer ones sound great. In fact,I prefer them over a True Tone. IMHO. |
