Okay it happened... I stripped a tuning nut.
I don't have a means of determining what diameter the pull rod is so..
what would be the likely replacement nut? _________________ Virgil Franklin

You mean these? I think usually with new ones you fit it to the end of the rod and it cuts its own thread into the nylon nut.

When you get some new tuning nuts, Check the end of the rod, And the first couple threads very careful.
The threads on the rod must be true to cut new threads in the nylon nut as it is threaded on.
I had a nylon nut strip out on a used steel I had, When I went to replace the tuning nut I checked the threads. It looked like the rod had been cut with a pair of pliers and mashed the threads. The bad rod had torn the threads out of the nylon nut. |
