Wow! Words do not suffice! Wonderful work by Frank.

Being that horticulture is my profession, and in the profession common names are often next to useless when trying to learn about different plants, I looked it up and if it is the same tree it is Agatha australis, which is a conifer and a member of the family Auracariceae. It is found in the northern districts of New Zealand's North Island and is thought to be one of the world's most ancient trees.

This makes it a cousin to temperate climate conifers that we use in certain regions of the U.S. including here in California, like the Norfolk Island Star Pine and the Monkey Puzzle Tree.

So the Kauri along with the others mentioned are under the big botanical umbrella of pine trees.

Being that the wood is from the time of the Neanderthals the tone is quite primitive Smile. Actually it sounds wonderful - just like all other Infinity guitars.

Makes me proud to be a Kiwi.
They are processing some 'Swamp Kauri' in Northland. I suspect this is what it is. Very well aged.
I built a lap steel from 'Lowland Totora" which is reasonably hard but not as good a Kauri.
We have some locals making very nice guitars from local woods.

How can wood be 50,000 years old? I'm not trying to be smart, just curious.
I don't care if Frank made it out of a rotten fence post, it would still be a great guitar if made by Frank.
