Hey gang,

Just heard a killer version of "Living in a Fool's Paradise" on the late night local blues program - not sure of the artist. I've been really digging the blues lately and thought that it would make a great addition to my limited blues repertoire. After a frustrating search on google (lyrics for the Mose Allison, Sam Cooke, Willie Nelson version; lyrics and chords for the Buddy Holly, Don Mclean version) I couldn't find the chords for the song. Surely someone on this forum should know. Also, any recommended resources for blues instruction on the G tuned resonator?

Thanks so much.

Sam Cooke's version:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCDLSCWZppw

I think it's in 6/8 (Jazz Waltz) rhythm.
The chords I heard:

F///// F/////
F7///// F7/////
Bb///// Bb/////
D#///// D#/////
F///// d-minor/////
A7///// d-minor/////
G7///// C7///// F///// C7///// repeat
Bridge coming later

If you heard it on the blues radio it may be by the Blasters.

You're welcome! It reminds me a lot of "Going Down Slow":

Joachim, where you wrote B, it should say Bb, for English speakers.

I know that in German terminology B means what we in English call Bb, and what we call B is called H in German terminology.

Ian,

The version of "Fool's Paradise" you heard was probably by Charles Brown. That's one I heard regularly on KALW and KPFA's blues programs.

If you'd like to meet up some time I could show you a bit of blues licks in open G tuning. I'm also in San Francisco.

Brad,

Thanks for the offer. I haven't seen you in years - the early days of the SF Bay Area Dobro Club (or something like that). I'll PM you when I find myself with some time available.

Thanks again,

Ian

Joachim,

Thanks again for taking the time to put up the chords, I really appreciate it. It sounds especially good on resonator with the drop E tuning (EBDGBD).
