Does anyone have any personal experience trying the Benado Steel Dream? I know Paul Franklin has used, and liked the unit.

Hi Ron,
I have been using the steel dream since it arrived on the scene, actually I have serial #2, Paul F has #1.
The build quality is superb and the sound quality is excellent.Absolute boutique effects, relatively easy to set up.Sage Benado is amongst the Best in the business and He is extremely helpful.
I particularly like the nutra drive if You take some time to dial in a subtle setting it will reward You with a fabulous tone which is "tube type" without being harsh, the tone settings are really nice too.
Hope this helps.
Best regards Billy

Headed out to a session tomorrow and it will be in the path, along with a Brad Sarno V8...once I got all the digital pedals out of my chain, with the Analog to Digital conversions and back, the tone got sooo sweet! Sage is the man!

I find it hard to believe that all the effects are analog, considering the size.... The dry path is analog but the reverb that is mixed in with the analog dry signal is probably digital, maybe the delay, too? Just wondering....
EDIT. To be clear, I`m not in anyway arguing that the Steel Dream doesn`t sound awesome, I know it does. I`ve heard it at the Dallas Show.

If it has reverb and doesn't have a tank of some sort its not analog. Likely a belton brick design of some sort but definitely digital.

Billy, I use it that way for direct recording, and if I'm using a Nashville 112, I use the loop function... And I will let Sage chime in on the analog path Smile

Hello friends,
First of all thank you all for the compliments, it means a lot to me.
In regarding to Analog, Digital etc.. this discussion could go forever.. LOL..
First let's make it clear, my Echo zen delay and the Adverb Reverb clearly say Analog sounding. Some of the clames here are true and some are just lack of specific knowledge of the components. This argument here if it's analog or not could go hand to hand with AAD, ADD, and DDD media recording when they were first introduced.
For example, AAD was clearly analog recorded material, analog mastering, to a digital format. So, are we going to say because it plays on a disc it was no longer recorded or mastered analog? The delay chip and the reverb chip that is used on the steel dream (and by the way, used by all the major players in the industry), it what's called hybrid chips. Just like the AAD format. Those chips are receiving analog signal and sending out analog signal. The only digitize part is the repeats in the case of the delay for example.
So those of you that clame for a true analog signal path, you are right, those of you that clame that it is not 100% analog, you're right as well to some extant.

I hope this helps to understand, and thank you again.

Thanks Sage,
The fact that the dry path stays analog throughout makes a huge difference.....
