I'm rebuilding an old Marlen D-10 and looking for some 7\64 (.109) 36" rods. I've searched many, many welding companies with no luck. I know there is a supplier out there somewhere because a well know steel guitar co. is useing this size but wants $4.75 each reguarless of length. Any help will much appreciated.
Thanks,
C.B.

CB,
I also did a search some time ago for 7/64th rods with no luck. I would up buying them from Ron Lashley in plain 36" lengths. I'll cut my own threads.

Hello friends,
I suggest you do one of two things. 1) find a welding supply shop, they have rods in many metalic compositions, all sizes and lengths. or, 2) Drill out the rod puller holes to 1/8" (1/64" larger). Then use 1/8" rod. It is eiser to find, also at welding supplies.

I had the same problem when working on my '83 Sho-Bud. You need to look for "drill rod" rather than welding rod. I found it at Industrial Metal Supply in Burbank CA (Local for me - Thanks to Chas Smith for the tip-off). You might find it elsewhere. I don't recall the length it came in, but it was plenty long enough for the longest pull rods in my guitar. You'll have to thread it yourself. Good Luck.
