Keep your eye out for non-pedal steel console guitars made by people known for pedal steels. I owned a nice Excel D8 for a while and currently have a great non-pedal PedalMaster D10. I've seen GFI, Sho-Bud made some "Jerry Byrd" D8's, etc. Even a malfunctioning or mechanically-gaaked pedal steel can be cleaned out and used that way. |

Righteous! I was closely considering that listing for myself a month or so ago, but I decided I've got enough strings to keep me busy for a while. I just love how the vintage market for lovely "big three" instruments is so down-to-earth compared to armpit guitars. |

There are lots of great builders out there but while you can still consistently get gorgeous vintage instruments for the same price as (or less) than a brand new one, it's a no brainer for me at least. |
